Chris Larsen is an American fintech entrepreneur and the cofounder and executive chairman of Ripple, the blockchain payments company behind XRP. Forbes currently estimates his net worth at about $11.4 billion, with most of his fortune tied to cryptocurrency and his Ripple holdings. Before Ripple, Larsen cofounded online mortgage lender E-Loan and peer-to-peer lender Prosper.

August 2026 Updates

Larsen contributed an additional $10 million to Building a Better California, the group fighting California’s proposed one-time 5% billionaire wealth tax, substantially increasing his financial commitment to defeating Proposition 40.

Larsen had already put $2.5 million into Building a Better California and $5 million into Golden State Promise, another organization directly opposing the billionaire tax; Ripple separately contributed another $5 million to Golden State Promise.

Larsen emerged as one of California’s biggest political spenders, putting about $26 million into three Super PACs aimed at influencing state and local races, including $15 million for Grow California and more than $1 million toward a PAC supporting insurance commissioner candidate Ben Allen.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese soccer superstar and entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion. He built his fortune through record-setting playing contracts—including his enormously lucrative deal with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr—along with endorsements led by his longtime Nike partnership and a growing portfolio of CR7-branded businesses and investments. Forbes estimates Ronaldo has generated more than $2 billion in career earnings and ranked him as the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2026, with estimated annual earnings of $300 million.

August 2026 Updates

Ronaldo said this will “probably” be his final year playing professional soccer, saying he wants to finish his career with a “spectacular legacy.” He currently has 976 career goals and remains in pursuit of 1,000.

Ronaldo sat out Al-Nassr’s 2026-27 Saudi Pro League opener, watching from the stands as the club beat Al-Fateh 3-0. Manager Ange Postecoglou said Ronaldo was being rested after his post-World Cup break.

Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassr training shortly after returning to Saudi Arabia from his post-World Cup vacation and wedding, beginning preparations for the new season.

Ronaldo married longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, after roughly a decade together.

Ronaldo’s sixth and final World Cup ended with Portugal’s 1-0 loss to Spain in the round of 16. He finished the tournament with three goals and left his international future beyond the World Cup undecided.
